In anticipation of the CAS Spring Meeting taking place May 7-10, 2023, in Boston, MA, CAS asked Meagan Mirkovich, FCAS, volunteer chair of the Spring Meeting Working Group, to share some of the many activities meeting attendees can experience in Boston!
Speaking as a New Englander, I know Boston is a great city to visit and explore. I encourage all Spring Meeting attendees to be sure to visit all New England has to offer before or after the meeting. Here are my top 5 spots not to be missed!
Freedom Trail: Do you love history? Well, Boston has so much to offer. Explore the Freedom Trail and it’ll take you along stops that tell the story of the American Revolution and beyond such as the Old North Church, Paul Revere’s House and the USS Constitution.
Fenway Park: I’m not a big baseball fan, but this historic baseball park is still worth the visit. It’s spring, so the Red Sox are sure to be in town one of the days if you can score a ticket!
Breweries: As the home to favorites like Sam Adams or Harpoon, local breweries are another fun destination. If beer isn’t your thing there are also local cideries like Downeast Cider House. And for those adventurous explorers willing to go outside city limits, the greater New England area is home to many other top-rated breweries.
Museums: Boston has many museums that will delight young and old. Art connoisseur? Check out the Museum of Fine Arts. Love the ocean? Visit the New England Aquarium (got to love those penguins). Is science more your passion? Boston has that too – visit the Museum of Science.
Shopping/Eating: One of my favorite destinations when I visit Boston is Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It’s a historic marketplace with local eateries and vendors. It’s a great place to grab some New England cuisine and enjoy the local ambience.
